Hi, this is the introduce yourself section, so please go ahead and introduce yourself.

Welcome

Okay now that's over, take this to the freelander section to get better advice than you would on AnythingGoes.
It's rare that i ever venture into such a place however, here's a link:

https://www.landyzone.co.uk/forum/land-rover-freelander.9/

Also, have you done the obvious? Checking the health and charge of the battery? Can't see why the powersteering would drop out from a faulting battery but i wouldn't be knowledable on that modern stuff anyway.

ALSO

When you take it to freelander-land, mention more than "freelander tdi". as in freelander 1? 2? Diesel? Petrol? etc etc...

OP don’t shout. Normal font will be okay. Battery light is coming on cos it’s showing low voltage. The battery/ alternator isn’t charging. The power steering pump will be relying on hydraulic pressure which may be affected by the electrical problem but as posted take this to the freelander part of the forum. Actuator switch or summit.

Faulty steering & battery light..
Have you still got a belt on the engine?

Battery light on / no charging + no power steering assist issues appearing at the same time = drive belt has come off, phil is quite right... easy peasy thing to check and sort as well!
