Hello all, new here having just recently got my first ever Range Rover (always wanted one, never thought it would happen!)
It is a 2002 L322 Vogue and I absolutely love it but I took a bit of a gamble buying it from a dealer with limited service history but I managed to track down the previous owner with a bit of Google work and spoke to him first and was reassured it was mechanically sound. However....
There are unfortunately some issues with it that I am rather hoping some of you on here can advise me about;
1 - Battery. Had the car for about a week and the battery died after driving a few miles with the red battery light on. Spoke to the previous owner who told me that he had the same problem and that if he removed the fuse for the radio and computer screen, the battery stayed charged but if not, it died within a few days... I have started charging it up and after a bit of charge, it had enough to start it but battery light still on. I checked the battery with a multimeter and it read 11.48 which dropped to 11.20-30 once I had the engine running, lights on and heater blowing. That would suggest a suspect alternator (which I haven't checked yet - too dark!) but I wondered if there was any substance in the previous owners explanation regarding the radio fuse?
2 - Cigarette lighter socket - sockets inside the front and rear all run off 20 amp fuse 71. Every time I put a 20 amp fuse in, it sparks and pops. I tried a 25 amp (after seeing that suggestion on a form) and that doesn't pop but sockets still don't work. The one in the boot (on a different fuse) does work though.
I'm not daft enough to expect that will be all but for now, if anybody can offer any advice, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks very much
