my business partner loved my range rover so bought one of his own, so i now have 2 to look after which brings me to hes first problem, when locked and everything has gone to sleep he still has something running, a faint hum can be heard when you place your ear to the drivers side bonnet but i cant find where its coming from as once the bonnet is open it stops, anyone out there have a clue as to what it might be

Isn't there a little cooling fan in that area for one of the electronic gubbins. I'm working from memory of reading previous posts.headlight wipers not correctl parking is a favourite drain I believe

first thing i looked at was headlight wipers, cooling fan makes sense as its that kind of low hum but what would make it stay on?

Not sure which models but some had a small cooling fan for the PCM module, which I think is under the leafscreen. This would run for a short while until the module reaches a pre-determined temp.
You can depress the bonnet catches to fool the car into thinking bonnet is closed, giving you opportunity to have a better listen.
Is it actually draining the battery or a just in case ?
If so you could try removing fuses one at a time, just beware this could introduce ghost faults.

it does drain the battery but so far not enough to stop it starting, it does sound like the hum of a small fan

Sorry can't be more help. Trip the bonnet catches and try removing fuses 1 x 1. If it engine controlled it will probably be engine bay fuse box.

If its a l322 have goooogle for FSR (final stage resister) its the heater fan running slow with ignition off.

When you say gone to sleep, how long are you waiting because a total shutdown can be over 20 minutes as I experienced on my last RR when chasing battery drain?

was well over 2 hours yesterday and could still here something running

Definitely need to track it down. There’s a lot of sensors that can be in play on these cars so finding out what is running is the first step then we can help look at what is likely to keep it running. The fan may not be the issue but will be linked to it. There are people here who can help but they need more information. Awaiting your update.
