I've got the new battery but I'm just worried about disconnecting the old one some chap mentioned that it's a pain in the ass because apparently all the windows need a reset

When you replace the old battery wait half hour for the system to drain capacity. Put the new one on then reset the fob key near the driver door 5 times press open rapid then close. Hopefully the setup will have recovered from the shock of revival and become ready for the hairdryers.

Forgetting to mention the tailgate window will drop first thing when a replacement battery fixed. All other doors will okay just press the toggle switch for the tailgate window back up.

The five times thingie is only for replacing batteries in the fob I believe, not the starter battery.
I'd be inclined to put the new battery in sooner rather than hanging around, personal preference! The only time I've waited is when my electrics were all screwed up and I disconnected the battery, waited 20 mins then reconnected it.

I just did the fiver out of precaution
. The battery can be a fickle one as your reliance on the retailer guarantee saying three years. Sometimes you only know when you get the dreaded click of doom. The tailgate gives you a clue, when this drops out of the blue especially during the winter. I noticed a cold draft from the rear reversing and ask the snowman to move slightly to the left.
Aha that's the battery 
If the battery keeps going flat it could either simply be old age, or worse case there's a discharge due to something not switching off.
Make sure you fully charge the new battery before fitting. It might appear to be, but generally they've sat on a shelf somewhere.
