Hi Guys.

Having some bad times with my 3.5, smoking very badly and am looking to for a replacement to drop-in.

The car is my green-laner so needs to be road legal but it only does about 500 - 1000 miles a year so I'm not looking to replicate a factory door car. Does anybody know if I can drop a 3.9 in and re-use all the fuel engine/management off my existing 3.5? If I have to replace the ECU / MAF & sensors, I will just try & source a 3.5.

Views.....?

Cheers,

Alan

Yep it will drop in and run, just remember some of your loom will need minor alteration to fit the serpentine front end.

May want to check the emissions when done to set the mixture and adjust the base idle.

There are plenty of 3.5s around if you want to keep it simple/reliable.

it could be an easyish fix, what colour is the smoke?

Unusual with an RV8. I had a '85 3.5efi that had starship mileage, so bad that it was noticeably down on power but used very little oil & didn't smoke also a '89 that had done 160k but still had good compressions. Could it be blocked breathers or the lack of valve-stem oil seals on an earlier engine?
