Hello again forum, it's been 9 months since I've been Range Rover'less and after regretting the sale of my faultless P38 I'm looking at getting a L322 for lane work and general workhorse stuff.
The problem I have is that I'm short on time so I'm not able to spend weeks researching which model and engine I should go for so I'm hoping some of you can quickly point me in the right direction.

My budget is £6000-9000 and I'd prefer a higher spec model but not fussed about the year unless I should be?

Which engine? I'd prefer reliability over MPG but I'm thinking petrols are better buying value?

Mileage, should I be scared of high milers (130k+) with good history?

Common faults, what to look out for and to avoid?

Thanks.

Look at gearboxes. The actual gearbox on the diesel and the torque converter on the petrols. Feel for surging and a wavering rev counter at a steady 45 mph to test the tc.
A petrol model will be cheaper to buy initially and would be my choice especially if it's lpg.

Air suspension?
Gearbox
Diffs

If they are ok! Your half way there.
Oh and invest in a diagnostic tool£couple of hundred quid.
It will reset all your software glitches that do apear from time to time.
Try and get a facelift model as alot of the minor faults where fixed on the facelift.

I would go 2005 2.9 Tdi

If V8 try to ensure it has never overheated as I am told they never run right if they have!

With the 6 cylinder Tdi although its not quick, you have lots of room to work..
Airbags....if originals put money away for new ones and ensure good service History.
avoid RR sport.
