Mr Noisy

Coming in your ears.
So we headed out last night as soon as the good snow hit again, met at around 8pm and headed over to Donkey Sanctuary first, then travelled mainly Northwest, did Elnor Lane and then Charity Lane.

Donkey Sanctuary was great, huge drifts bonnet deep as usual, but tbh we had just as much fun/trouble driving the yellow roads, the snow made everything awesome!

There was blizzard conditions so it was grim work when you had to get out if the car but very exciting too.

My mate came in his L322 with snow tyres and it was awesome, also very comfortable laning I am reliably informed.

He went home at around 11.30pm as we knew Charity Lane was too scratchy for an L322.

We started at the East end of Charity and made a third of the way up, but by 1am we decided to back down because it was just useless, deep snow sat on 3" thick ice, there was no grip!

It was however quite incredible driving the blizzard, the snow and the drifts. Got some crap videos which are short cos my phone memory filled up :(

Anyway hopefully you get the idea.

If not, it was ####ing unreal, 3" drifts of powder, very very awesome.

Cheers :)

I went out with some mates last night too, mainly around wink hill near leek was amazing, 2 ft of snow and 5ft drifts couldn't even see where we were going at some points the blizzard was that bad had a guy tag along about half way through, although when we went down my mates farm track I do t think he knew what was happening haha we all got out and went for a brew and be had to turn around and go home poor chap

Well worth a look about lads if the snow persists.

Have never driven anything like it and I was up in the lakes for a weel at Xmas 09 when the bad snow hit, was nothing like last night. Think it was the fact that it was fresh that made it very driveable.

And yes the posh rover was great, well chuffed that he brought it out and for those conditions it was bang on!

:0( I wish we had some snow. Getting very jealous of you lot having fun. I have not even seen a single flake of snow yet this Winter..

I knew someone had been up donkey sanctuary could see that! That's why we fancied giving it a go. Had the farmer ranting at us this afternoon because we got stuck and were winching up! Good ol kl 71s great in mud **** in snow!
Al.

Heading out again tonight, hopefully gonna try tackle Snake/Woodhead pass, whatever looks decent driving.

Not really looking at making a route etc cos going out with some mates for sledging/drifting etc so not really a laning trip but I'm defo looking to get some snow driving in.

Will have CB on all night ch10 with pretty decent receive range.

Hit me up today on PM if you're out and about for my mobile number.

Cheers :)

Derbyshire was ####ING CRAZY last night!!!!

Was out solo so there was quite a lot riding on us not getting stuck!

Couldn't see more than 10 feet so my mate was telling me where to go reading the laptop maps!

Just unbelievable weather, never seen anything like it, so much snow, so fast!

We saw 2 abandoned cars, a VW van through a fence near dirt low rake, a Volvo on its roof and a CRV sat on a boulder coming out of Castleton.

We started Houndkirk moor, which took some powerful driving!

Then up north for a little loop then back west, bypassed stanage, over to ughill moors bit we managed 100 yards and had to try to get out, the roads were nearly inpassable, the open moors were 3ft deep! hadnt been driven at all so we had no chance.

we then went down bamford (scary stuff!) and across to dirt low rake, we battled around half a mile into the south end of dirt low but when the fence stared to disappear we knew it was time to try to get out again!

Pics and vids to follow but all in all a ####ing disaster area!!

Loved every minute!! :D

Oh and just in case there is anyone sat on the fence deliberating, last night would not have been possible without air lockers. Absolutely no hope in hell with 2WD in that stuff.

We've got 4 inches at home and thy came in about 1hour must be crazy further north ! Really wish my truck was done !

Bamford was well scary! We did it around 3pm, thought my mate was a gonner, had it parked sideways at 1 bit. And big al just bounced all the way down, his back wheels were over 2feet off the floor. An experience never to be repeated!

have got a video which i will try to get online later which shows me nearly binning it at bamford!

big step lost rear traction, i tried to slow down on the brakes, then stalled so was in a slide, so restarted and had to floor it to get back in control!

all happened in around 3 seconds but it was a scary 3 seconds!
