If the trader says it is slight tappet noise I should think it is probably loud tappet noise. Could be almost anything but I would be more concerned with the fact it's a LPG. I don't think these engines do that well on LPG long term.

if it is a light ticking - tappet most likely.

If it is a deeper sounding tick with a more tinny overtone - could be slipped liner

On a t plate is I guess a late gems? If it's a gems it's to expensive. Full stop. Thor is more desirable. Light tapping? May be nothing but I doubt it. Often tappets stick because the engine is slightly overheating. Check the real temperature. Good luck.

4.6 l Thor is the best in the v8. Diesels are well liked. 4l manual is unusual. 4l auto not liked. Esp gems. 4.6l gems okish.(all autos). Also 5years ago this was gassed....dodgy block ? Personally the gas would put me off. Has it been rebuilt ?probably not at 94000. New cam?

Liner slip is more of a tap than a tick & it's at piston speed whereas valve gear is half that. If it doesn't do it until it starts to get warm I'd say a liner is on the move, in which case it's time to walk

Mines a 4.0auto and I love it!

Not your 4l yours is loved. I'm talking all the others.
Some reckon 4l are actually smoother. But they have a weaker autobox and smaller torque converter(early ones). If your gonna get one get the 4.6.
