As stated in title, I know it's first world problems, but had a weird one with the auto function with windscreen wipers today, and wondering if anyone else has encountered it.
The auto function was working quite happily, but earning it's money, on the drive back North. I had driven from London and was just passing Oxford, with wipers on all the way. When , suddenly they stopped, despite the rain still battering down. I put them to normal, function, and no issues, so tried again, still no joy. I tried a couple of times , and noyiced, they were stopping just above the correct , stopped, position.
I went back to manual, for the next few miles, then tried again , with no joy. I then pushed down to the lowest position , to clear the screen, put back up to auto, and it worked. A little while later, auto failed again, and again stopped just above normal 'park' position.
I went back to manual, as rain was too heavy to mess about. Stopped at services, set off and auto has worked no issues since.
Anyone had similar? Is it leading to some type of failure? Or is it just one of those, 'oh heck it's raining, I'm a Range Rover, I must throw a fault', type things?
Thanks in advance :)

My Jag has auto wipers.
They tend to play up if the sensor is obscured by dirt.

Confuses it.

Maybe.

Or it's just having a hissy fit ;)

Another bit of unnecessary tech there to go wrong.
Dirt on the sensor is the most likely problem.

Thanks Henry. I had a look at that , when I was at the services. After which it was the only clean bit off the car, but made bo difference. It's ghe not seating properly that seemed to be the issue. Once I got past that she was ok again. Considering the miles I've been putting on her, I'm lucky to get away with just this so far.

Well it was raining, perhaps the sensor just got too wet....... And - you just nicked my title. Having made the fatal boast that my L322 had been great so far in another thread - What did you do with your RR today - I'm about to post a thread about mobile reception that I was going to title 1st World Problems....

Maybe we need a new sub-section : First world problems :)

Wel today the wipers worked great, BUT the plastic bit on the inside, fell off! Put it back together and put it back up.
I was wondering if the wind might have been the issue on Saturday. Apart from the rain belting down, the wind was strong enough to be nudging her around, on open bits. Maybe it was the cause of the not seating correctly. Who knows
