evening all,

I've had a good search on here but i am unable to find exactly the problem my Disco 2 has had last weekend.

i got very stuck in very deep water and mud, whilst winching myself out i took on a lot of water which freaked a lot of the electrics out, including the gears selection lights next to the selector. then i got the gearbox temp warning light, once i got out of the hole i let it cool down for a while then continued playing. within the next 30 mins i noticed that i was needing a lot more revs to keep moving. sensing impending doom i bolted for home, i made it about 5 miles before it would drive no more. sat at the side off the road the red ATF was mixing with the rain and looked like bloodbath.

looking underneath the leak would seem to be coming from the top of the gearbox at the rear where it meets the transfer box, it must have come out under pressure too as it has covered the underside of the body on the drivers side. then ran down to the sump then the ground.

from what i can gather i could be looking at a blown gearbox output shaft seal. has anyone had a similar breakdown ?? or a better idea of what it might be ? any help would be much appreciated

more than just the seal box is probably water filled
+1 on that diagnosis....
Though I'm asking myself why he would continue playing after the initial problems with the electrics cropped up.
Looks like best thing to do now is to drain the box and see what comes out of it.
