Evening guys. A guy who rents a room off my parents came back from seeing his girlfriend and caught a guy stealing my defender.

The guy managed to get away, but i thought i would share this

He got into the vehicle with out damaging it, and he also succesfully had the ignition on!!! Given another minute i think he would have had it started and been gone!

Here is the MASTER TOOL which he left in the ignition

If you're keeping that for the cops to get dabs from ... put it in a paper bag NOT a plastic one ...

What a ####. Buy a disklock maybe a pedal box too! Chances are he might try again.

Seeing that someone should come up with a column lock. Thick peice of steel that wraps around the column/ignition. Would slow them down alot.

X Defend Column Lock for Land Rover Defender

you're really lucky - i'm really pleased they didn't get away with it… you should have told the police they were driving away in it… when mine got taken i told them it had JUST been taken last year and they came in 3 riot vans and 2 unmarked cars…

Got it back… and added all the e-eng kit… get the pedal lock at least

I forgot about that one!

:D

their kit is really good - shame they don't make anything for the new model or i would have used them again - had to go elsewhere…

sadly my old 90 got nicked again, with all the kit on!!

:( sorry mate. As said in the other thread all you can really do is slow them down. Luckily I live a good area with CCTV and large gates add a disklok, immobaliser it makes it tougher to steal! Soon enough deadlocks, pedal box and security film on all the glass.

Getting a new delivered in a couple of weeks, already got a disklok, pedal lock, parking post for my drive, tracker, security light to the side of my house where it will be parked… will etch the glass as well and fill the bonnet screws with resin or something :)

The forensics guy came out whilst i was on site, he said he is almost certain that it was being stolen to order, and thinks he may be back.
Ive parked it in now, and removed the battery. So hopefully that will deter them.

I am going to invest in some more security.

Thanks for the replies, i will let you know if they get a print off that key!

Maybe worth asking at your local police station if they are doing dikloc at discounted prices or if one nearby is, one fault near me was doing em for £50

What's a 'Dikloc', Mandy?

Just askin' coz I've heard what these firepersons get up to ;););)

that masterkey is worrying, does it work with all defenders?? best thing to.do with the police is tell them ylu have run the thief over, see how fast they arrive then, the best steering locks were the kiltechs but they have stopped making these now unfortunately
