I know before I even type this that folks are going to tell me to stick the front number plate on, but I have never found this to be particularly successful. Even dealer attached plates on new cars have fallen off. I therefore much prefer to screw my number plates on.

The front number plate fell off the Discovery the other day when I closed the bonnet and clearly previous owners have had the same success as me as there are at least three generations of sticky pads on the back of the number plate. My question is, therefore, has anyone successfully screwed their number plate to the front bumper? Ideally I would use nuts and bolts but can't immediately see how to get to the back of the bumper.

What a brilliant idea - thank you. I don't suppose you can remember what size you used?

I always use self tappers and those matching plastic caps to hide the evidence?

IIRC i drilled a 5.5mm hole and used 5mm x 50mm rivets but it was long time ago and since then i riveted many things in my garage cos i love them so i might be wrong... just drill a hole and use rivet which fits and it's long enough to catch
