Hi all, wondered if you can help?

So basically I've recently rebuiit one of the carbs which was leaking out of the "overflow" onto the front outrigger..
So she's up and running again.. Of sorts, sounds like a bag of spanners, misfiring and also .... Gutless. Can anyone offer some advice into getting it running sweetly again ?? I have no way to balance the carbs without going to a garage..

Also I seem to have one fuel pipe going through the filter to the RH carb (the rebuilt one) and adjoins to the other through a "banjo" pipe. The "feed" pipe for the LH goes straight back to the tank!! Through no filter or anything?! Is this right???:confused::confused:

Assuming you have SU HIF6 (you don't say which) then it isn't hard to sort them out but it does take time. Balancing them can be done with a tube - remove the air filters and place a tube close to the air intake and listen to the hiss through the other end. Do this on the other carb and aim to get both sounding the same i.e. the same amount of air going in to each.

Other things include tuning and making sure the needles are of equal height in both carbs. I have a little book somewhere I could send a copy of

And. The feed from the tank will have a filter. The return doesn't need it - not sure what you mean by 'feed' from LH carb though

Ahh yes, I apologise! I have twin SU 44 ! Okay, thanks I'll have to give that a try with a hose. What I mean by LH feed is, although I understand this is the return, I'd have thought that fuel would be returned via the overflow of each carb? I realise the banjo is to equalise the fuel pressure, so I can't think why the fuel return on the LH carb is connected to the fitting..? As surely this would encourage fuel back to the tank instead of into the carb..?
