Just wondering with the end of the Defender if there are enough companies to keep the legacy vehicles going.

My machine is getting on a bit and would be reassuring to know it's still gonna have parts available to keep on truckin'. :)

200tdi - no - spares like cylinder heads are becoming rarer.

300tdi - still in service with the army and for RoW spec so I imagine spares won’t be an issue for some
Time

The 300TDi was made in Brazil for several years after it stopped being an option over here, engines were shipped over for RoW & MOD spec vehicles. It was also available as a LR Genuine Parts re-power kit and I believe production was finally stopped in about 2006 (I had one of these kits fitted into my 90 in 2004 and I recall reading in one of the magazines a couple of years later that production had finally been halted).
As there are still a large number of users of the 300TDi (including fleet / MOD) I should imagine spares will be in good supply for some time yet.

This was my RoW spec 300TDi straight out of the crate.

That's just pornographic

Have a look at the Turner Engineering website. They are still selling remanufactured 200TDi and 300 TDi units, and spare parts. There are still plenty of early Discos in the scrapyards, going by the amount advertised on Fleabay, so another good source of parts.

Defenders will literally be around for the years with no effort and if they are still around so will the parts to keep them going.

Thankfully people seem to have gotten over the end of production mania that was putting prices skywards.

Cant be many 200/300 owners who dont have spare engine parts incl heads and inj pumps?

I reckon the engines are good for 500k if looked after. Mines on an indicated 235k, so at 10k a year it will last longer than I will!

I don’t have myself actually, but I have a mate with a shopping container full of 200/300/v8/2.5petrol and diesel parts :D

Well said Landy brothers!
Yet I can recall seeing not so long ago an actual company casting / forging the engine from scratch and selling them from their website. Spare parts is good, but I want to own my defender until I shuffle off this mortal coil and I'm a young dude!

The streets of Norn Iron are still patrolled daily by a large fleet of 300TDi engined Police Land Rovers. Someone must have a large stock of parts!
