I've only had the Landy a couple of weeks (and really only used it for a couple of days!) but am itching to take it off road for a play. :D

As I'm completely new to Landy's and off roading I'd like to try something easy with others around to advise me on the basics, get me out of trouble if (when!) I screw up, and to have a laugh at my expense!

Is anyone else from around Wetherby/Leeds/York who fancies a drive out over the weekend to somewhere suitable?

Cheers

Richard

P.S. Was looking at a local basic off road course earlier but they want 60 quid for an hours lesson and it's in their series 3 rather than my own 90 - hmmm...

have you tried Tong or Parkwood as it's known. just pay ya £30 or what ever it is for the day and go where you want to go. then you can take it as easy or as hard as you want.

If you're looking for a useful group to join I'm a member of The HumberYorks4x4Reponse group Link in my siggy. and we've got a few members in your neck of the woods We're always looking for new members and You'll be made very welcome.

Cheers

Has anyone tried this lane? - sounds ok, is fairly local, and should hopefully be easy enough for me to tackle! Driving from West Morton to Ilkley on Ilkley Rd/Keighley Rd?

Here on Google maps - from: St Ln to: Keighley Rd - Google Maps

Yesterday I spent some time looking for an off road site I remember going to years and years ago with a mate in his dad's Range Rover - it was near Yeadon airport but I couldn't find it   Anyone else know where I mean and is it still there?

Richard (Still not managed to get off road for a play!)

Ok cheers - at the moment I don't know anyone else with a Landy round here to go with. Even if I went somewhere dead easy there is still scope for me to get stuck/stranded which prob isn't a good idea!

Would it be ok if I tagged along on your next run out?

Richard

If you fancy a little further afield, then I have a good 'newbie' route round Maltby/Bawtry/Retford, takes about 3-4 hours. Check the Jan11 thread in greenlaning for pics etc. Supposed to be taking a couple of friends out this sunday, but they've cried off, but if you fancy it, post back. ;)
Meet at J1 M18 so easy to get to.

Sounds good to me :D

I've got a few jobs I'd like to get sorted on the Landy (nothing serious) and may even be getting some offroad wheels/tyres on Saturday so Sunday sounds perfect. Just let me know where/when/anything I need...

Cheers

OK, Sunday morning, 10 am, McDonalds, Rotherham side of J1 M18.

Last time we went Andy200tdi and One stop both had road tyres on and got through with little hassle. I'd guess it'll be a bit muddier and possibly icy, but so long as you've got decent recovery points that would do .. I've got strops/ropes etc.

I'll put a new thread up.

Ok cool. I think I just have the standard recovery points at the front (still deciding on a steering guard with in built points or jate rings) and a pin style towbar at back which should hopefully be ok. In fact, really hoping we won't need them!!!

I'll PM you my mobile number just in case you need to get in touch anyway.

Cheers again - looking forward to it!
