We spotted a later style defender parked up for 24 hours near our house
was on false plates showing 58 plate
Buckinghamshire / Oxford border, raised bonnet Transit style engine with halo headlights, a bit scruffy but nice truck forwards facing leather rear seats Police were informed

The Police had 0 interest, my friend kept his eye on it like a hawk, ready to follow it, but I think he was getting into bed when it took off
Just shows you, easy money for the Crims,I had one go off the drive a couple of years ago,Police just look at it as a minor infringement of the law me reckons.

Are you certain it was stolen? I've reported a number of cars over the years as suspicious and they have all turned out to be stolen. Police never confirmed this over the phone. They just say they will look into it. Always turned up.

Id agree. Ours will always respond to such a report. It may be that they did but missed it or the checks on the number plate didn’t initially show it as nicked… which meant a check on the VIN was needed.

Unbelievable that the Police wouldn't attend what was most likely a stolen vehicle on false plates.

Almost certainly left there to see if it had a tracker fitted.

That's someone's pride and joy that could have been recovered

Did you give the police the reg plate and vin number? None matching numbers would get them interested.

This would definitely get their interest where simple checks by the police would highlight if the two didn’t match. That said, our force would still look into it if reported.

Yes we did, and they didn't match up, the plate was not matched to any car, just made up I think
No matter how interesting I made it sound they were not coming out.

If you are the type of person that would nick somebodies pride and joy then i rekon you may know where to get plates,
A corner shop that sells vapes and phone accesories up the road from me has recently started selling laminated 'show plates' for £20 each, not for road use of course,
Perhaps handy for stealing to order, cloning and the new ulez 'tho

They’re available online too. Sold as not for road use.
