As above really.

Trying to fit my MUD Pod, wanting to move the fog switch up there so i can use the current slot for rear heated screen when the time comes.

Problem is the carling has 5 inputs but the LR fog only has 4 outputs.

LR Switch 2 earths, side light, power. Ive found all need be connected for the switch to work.

Carling is 2 earths, side light, power, relay input

Not sure how to wire it in!

Any ideas?

A couple of questions,
What year is your 'fender?
Is it the switch for the rear fog lights your talking about?
 
OK, looking at the drawings in RAVE for the 2000 onwards Defender, though in this case it's the same as the 95 'fender.
The wiring to the back of the LR switch is:-

C1741-1 Black/grey Circuit operation to rear fog ECU (make for ON)
C1741-2 Red/Orange switch illumination or backlight
C1741-3 Not connected.
C1741-4 Black Ground
C1741-5 Red/Yellow Tell-tale from ECU.
You'll have to work out what's needed on your Carling switch, but you'll probably find that you have a change-over contact on the switch.

OK, that explains the need for the ECU.

It seems that it has two purposes, one to convert the push button action to an electronic latching action; push once for ON and push again for OFF.

The second job it does is to tie the operation of the rear fogs to the headlights. It makes sure that the dipped headlights are on before the rear fog lights can be turned on and also turn the rear fogs off again when the headlights are switched off.

If you can do without the fancy bits and the switch you intend using is a latching type then you should be able to arrange for 12 volts or a fused supply from the dipped headlight wiring to the switch and run the rear fog lights by connecting the Red/Yellow wire to the other contact on the switch. Run a ground to the other end of the tell-tale.
