Hi all when selecting gear on auto box I have noticed a vibration noise similar to the tin sound of an exhaust vibrating...but rear box seem secure it does it with both reverse and drive and disappears when you as rev to pull away and no noise after starting to move....any help much appreciated thanks in advance

Check the exhaust mounts, and make sure there's sufficient clearance between the exhaust and other components or the body.

Give the rear box a good shake in all directions. It should have a good couple of inches movement all round before it hits another component, or it'll hit under engine movement.

It's also a good idea to check the lower engine tie bar, as those are known to go soft, allowing the engine to rock more than it should.

Just crawled under and the rear box has much more play in it from what I I can see it looks like the mount has gone....just driven for an hour to get home and the box is a lot looser than when I checked it initially....really appreciate the suggestion for direction to look

Are the mount rubbers orange? mine are.

Check the heat shield above the back box - it often comes loose on the F2 - needing bigger "penny washers" to hold it in place

I've a feeling mine are the later OE type.

Black would be early originals.
Are any split?
After getting underneath today and having a good look around it's a combination of a split rubber mount and the heat shield starting to get a bit of play in it...job for the weekend replace mount rubbers and reseat the bolts in the heat shield.
Many thanks for all the advise and the directions to look in....
Appreciated from all big thanks
