Hi I am new here
Firstly sorry if this has been covered hundreds of time before but last night my Landrover 90 was broken into last night between 8:30pm and 7:00am this morning.
I believe they where after the truck the Police think they where just after high value goods as loads of personal items moved but not removed.
The lock barrel was not damaged so this leads the police to believe they did not want the truck just items of value.

I have a battery isolation switch fitted between the handbrake and the tunnel and the carpet has fallen over the switch as it has come unstuck so not that easy to see lso it is a smaller diameter swith to the more common switches.
I have now removed the steering wheel as an extra precaution and ordered a removable steering wheel boss to weld on and therefore able to remove the steering wheel into the house.
Any ideas for further measure that are easy to do that are not a big inconvenience to day to day use I have an idea for making a bracket to padlock the high low neutral leaver in neutral.

Well for a start I wouldnt say where any of my anti theft gadgets are !!!!!!!! Id edit your post removing that comment
 
As you say, covered a loads of times, and as Sypher says - be careful with what you post!

In this order (IMO)

- Disklock
- Immobiliser
- Clutch Claw
- Park on full lock
- Ideally park where a flat bed lorry would struggle to lift it

A number of guys recommend trackers, sentinel security posts and CCTV as well

The hard truth is if they want it they'll take it, but you can choose from the above in terms of making it more difficult for them
 
I have a perimetric toad alarm on one car and a tracker on my truck - when they were installed it was explained to me that they are meant to achieve different outcomes. The alarm came with two very visible stickers so is inteded to have a deterrent effect, the tracker came with nothing (on the basis that if you say you have a tracker the thief just trashes the inside trying to find it and kill it ). So one has an element of prevention, and one cure (i.e. find the truck if stolen). On balance I`d go for a very good alarm, mine was £350 eight years ago, and judging by how effective it is when I forget I`ve switched it on and open something (very very loud) it was well worth it. It might get you an insurance discount as well.

On that note, I told Lancaster I got my alarm immobiliser fixed, and it made no difference to my premium:( Feel better though:)

I still prefer innovative aproaches, such as keeping a ferral cat in the Landy, fed primarilly on magic mushrooms:D

I don't think a ferral cat would work in a freelander. If tha cat pee'd on the doors they'd just fall off.:p
 
Its all crap, if they want it, they will steel it, all false security does is take them a little longer to take it, seems to me that when a car alarm starts blatting away no one even cares. Putting the wheels on full lock is a good idea as is parking where a lorry cannot get easy access.
