Just to add to the huge list I have just had my 1989 Defender taken from my drive in broad daylight - the ba*tards even took the opportunity to do a three point turn on the front garden and slash the discovery tyre before going.

Not optimistic but it is a blue 90, 2.5TDi in generally good condition. 5 new BFG all terrains on silver modulars recently fitted. Otherwise unmodified. Started to do some underbody refurb with front part of chassis and n/s wheel arch repainted. New rear cross member fitted. Rear o/s wheel arch split. Mileage approx 51K. reg H566 AEC. As an early model the Defender door decals go from bottom to top, unlike later models which go top to bottom. Distinctive dent of front n/s of bonnet, and big scratch on front n/s vent flap.

Been on the farm for 20 years so big loss.

Sorry to hear that mate but like Ratty says tell us where from and folk can keep their eyes peeled, you never know your luck.

its gone.you will not see it again.its how it is.

I have mine under armed guard....its also the only way.

Its time for this to stop.We need to pursue the police as a collective and pressureize them to sort it out.Its organised crime and they must be going abroad.Lets block the ports......

Ratty,

thanks. It was taken from Lymm in Cheshire on Monday.

Not optimistic but you never know!

Ta

could have gone straight down M56 to Wales then onto the ferry to Ireland.
also in the back of a curtainside lorry with hiab...being stripped and exported to africa,...

the choice is yours...

so RATTY are you going to post this upp on the rozzers page ta keep it up there....:D:):)

Against all odds the lads in blue have found my Landie! 1000 more miles on the clock, dent on the wing but otherwise in one piece. Aparently used for thieving plant from around the north west under false plates. Not sure how they got in/started as no damage to any of the locks!

I will now have to find some way of securing it!

nice one. With a bit of luck it'll help lead to others that are missing too.:)

Well chuffed to get it back. Didn't catch them - think it was abandoned as there were too many police reports of it driving off towing bits of plant. Sad thing is they have probably nicked another one so that they can carry on.

Found out a bit more. Recovered in Wythenshaw. Had been used for various jobs but then they had decided to sell it - thats when it was found.

I think its well organised - the landy was cloned last year when someone copied the plates and put them on another nicked vehicle- they ran around stealing plant and we got the call from the police! Almost certain its linked.

One thing that is puzzling me - all the locks are intact-even the fuel cap. Some say you can use any landy key to open another, but I think someone had a key. I know landy locks are crap, but are they really that rubbish?

Spending tomorrow installing security post and new locks.

The locks on lannies are utter crap. I use a disklok and have an immobiliser on mine.

I'm considering having the padlock pad-eyes fitted as well, then having a massive fck-off padlock through both doors and the back!
