I know there's been a few stereo threads down the ages, but couldn't find the answer I wanted, so bear with me...

I've got an 04 Disco 2 that has the 6500 Visteon CD/radio installed. The CD jumps more than a punk rocker at a gig, so I thought I'd change it. Just asking if anyone else has done this and what they used in terms of a head unit and any other wiring/leads and if they managed to keep the steering wheel controls working.

I don't really need a CD player in the head unit if the new headset has plugs on the front for MP3 players or phones. Was also thinking about a DAB radio.

have you tried cleaning the lens ??
i have some luck strip down and use the small cloths from glasses cases, it's worked on playstation x box and loads of cd players i have had.

I have just fitted a pioneer unit. Ordered the stalk adaptor off eBay and retained all the functionality. Head unit is available in halfords for £99 or on eBay for £85 and the adaptor plug was £20. Works a treat
