is there any way to test an altinatorwithout it being on a vehical.
have tried 2 altinators on my landy and they both read the same input into the batt only 11.6 volts and it goes down to about 11.55 volts when its revved up, does this sound like an earthing problem to anybody

My local scrappy has a bench tester for testing off the car.

Does sound odd that you've got the same problem on 2 alternators......check earthing straps, and I guess the charge cable from the back of the alternator??? Might be corroded at the other end if you see what I mean!?

Have you tested the warning light? Does it come on when you turn the ignition on?
If I remember correctly when the warning light wire is broken or the bulb is blown it won't charge properly
