Experiencing a problem with my defender 300tdi. When driving the the battery light is dimly flashing. At the same time there seems to be a slight power surge to the driving lights and heating fans.
I'm guessing it's an alternator problem and I am planning on changing it. Before I rush to part with my cash I just thought I'd double check?
What do you think?

PS. The battery was changed this time last year.

yes common alternator fault symptoms get it refurbed asap

You can replace the bushes yourself, it's not that difficult.

Out of curiosity, are the leads to the battery securely attached with the battery clamped.?!

Yes checked the battery was connected ok. Failed to start yesterday so can't be charging the battery

Not familiar with the 300 but I assume it is belt driven - haven you checked that to ensure its tight, perished etc?
