Does anybody have experience of replacing the Defender rear wiper motor with an alternative? Mine is completely shot and Defender ones are pricey but I noticed that there are quite a few Discovery 2 motors around much cheaper, they look almost similar and perhaps could fit with a bit of rejigging. Has anybody done this or found another cheap solution?

I just fixed mine on my defender. The dc motor itself was ok. So I'm assuming yours is.

It's the shaft that seizes up with corrosion etc.
There is a video on youtube that shows you how to do it.
Rather than paying 190 quid for a new unit.

It all comes apart fairly easy apart from the shaft which you have to bash out. I cleaned mine up with a dremel tool and greased up and put back together.

Hope this helps
