Just a question re: window regulators on a Freelander. Searched the forum, couldn't see any answer.

The motor used on the rear regulator seems to be fairly standard - need to replace mine (year 2001 TD4), so I was wondering if anyone here knows if the motor for any other car/Land Rover will fit? (I can't see any Freelander rear regulator motors for sale on eBay and I'd rather not have the expense of buying the entire regulator when I already have a cable-kit and all I need is the motor). The motor on the rear regulator of a Rover 75 looks suspiciously similar.

Alternatively, anyone every successfully get a regulator motor working again? The teeth were gummed up with solidified grease which I got rid off, but there are several deep grooves on three of the electromagnets which, I'm guessing, shouldn't be there.

(Bet ya all thought this post was going to be me asking about broken regulator cables.... :p)

Probably will end up with getting new regulator, but factoring in shipping to Ireland, the differince between getting a replacement motor and getting a new regulator is 50 quid - that's sunroof repair kind of money!!!

always said, right tool right job, you'll be paying twice when the cheap one fails. However I did get my seized disco sunroof motor working again by stripping it, wd40 and a clean. worth a try if its gotta come off anywway.

By coincidence, I did this yesterday evening - worked like a charm and took all of 30 minutes, if that! Whatever had happened to the motor, a quick soak in WD40, some white lithium grease to replace the black grease that had been around the gears and all was a-okay!

I'll admit I did also have a moment when I thought it still wasn't working - then I realised I hadn't connected back up the window switch on the rear door itself (which is required for the regulator to work).

All sorted! Now on to that sunroof...
