Morning all,

I'm looking to change out my standard seats in my 90. But obviously cannot afford exmoor trim prices. I've seen quite a few people fitting Mazda RX8 seats quite successfully but the 2nd hand market are all looking pretty tired now.

I'm thinking maybe some Mercedes A Class seats could fit.

Does anyone have any experience with these seats? Or have any better suggestions?

Take a look on Facebook, there are plenty of leather RX8 seats for sale atm, most in very good condition. Also search for RX8's being broken for spares, you will find a good set.

Why? What is wrong with the standard seats.... I'm yet to see an improvement over a standard style seat.

That's because you've yet to install a set of leather RX8 seats, until you do you will not understand.
Very doubtful, I want access to the battery and/or tank without having to get spanners out. Seats also need to be robust and suitable for a 4x4 and laning. I also don't want seat risers at all! Good condition standard seats are the perfect seat for a Land Rover. Comfy and fit for purpose.

Oddly enough, seat risers are a must for tall people. They get you further from the pedals, and in a 110 mean you can set the rails further back.

What would you class as "tall people" I am 6'1 and find standard is fine.

In poor condition, Defender seats are rubbish. The foam falls to bits over the decades, making them lumpy and uncomfortable. The solution is to simply refurbish them, rather than mess around trying to fit other seats in there. New internal foams make a big difference, and replacement covers are also available if yours are tatty. Then they're actually very good.
