Missed that. Fairly high draw!

True slightly more expensive but it was my understanding the china webastos will only last around 2 years or so

Specification supplied is a bit minimal.

600 watts is 50 amps at 12v.

Standard battery size is typically around 100 amphr

That means if using a single starter battery and it was fully charged then within 1 hr it will have used 50% capacity of the battery so starting to impinge on starting capacity.

OK can be used whilst engine running or on a dedicated battery but would not recommend for using it as a preheater to warm cab before starting engine.

Personally I would give it a miss.

Thats around 50A at full heat. The price is more than the cheapo Chinese Webasto diesel heaters. It may be an option for some, but something I personally would use.
I'm running a dual alternator set up on my 200Trip so i have power enough for it on full chat, well 2nd alt is 100A so should have enough, but 600W doesn't sound a lot when you compares it to the 5kw cheapo Chinky diesel jobbies, any ideas on what the heat output would be like? Inferno or luke warm?

I wouldn’t know, but electrical to heat is a very poor energy efficient conversion. If I had to guess, I would say it’s probably not as good as some standard defender heaters, but it surprise us all.

At £160 it’s dearer than my new diesel heater that pumps out 5kw.

Diesel heaters have to be serviced just like Diesel engines. At £130 every two years you could simply bin a Chinese one and replace.
