Good Afternoon

I recently replaced the steel wheels on my TD4 3 door with Freelander 5 spoke alloys that I picked up from the scrap yard. My question is I know the wheel nuts are different than the steel ones and I have replaced them but should it have some sort of spacer on the rear? The reason I am asking is that the wheels seem too tight against the drums and although I have tightened them up they seem that I could quite easily tighten them more but am cautious in case I damage the wheels!

As alwys any advise would be gratefully recieved!
 
I'm pretty sure if the wheels were taken from a Freelander then no spacers would be needed. Might be worth checking in the manual what the torque settings should be on an alloy wheel.
 
Tighten up all the slack wiv yer brace, then wiv yer brace give it some grunt [if ya do it by hand you wont cause damage, its just those idiots in the wheel place with the pnumatic never get orft again machines that cause damage. . . :D
 
Ye can tell if ye over do it cos ye'll av the rubber bit and a rim at yer feet and five shiney spokes stuck on the hubs

I agree Slob, that comment confused me too. How can the wheel be too tight against the drum? It should be very tight to prevent the wheel falling off.
Not sure I like the insult to Freelander drivers though. That makes me cross !!
 
what insult????? i said that if i knew i'd be a freelander driver, so you can deduce from that, that freelander drivers are smarter, but as you seem to misunderstand wot i said then i guess yer not. :0))
 
Sorry Slob, I thought I detected a hint of sarcasm in there. I take it all back. I'm just not used to you guys bigging the Freelander folk up ;)

Yes he done me on that one as well Slob , i just took it that he's afraid to ovetighten his alloys . . .:)

The spokes do look close to the edge of the drums, mine are about 3-4 mm, but if they are hard up against the drum yer must have a problem, me thinks
 
oh! oh! i think i get it!!!!!!
the inside dia of the whellk is the same size as the outside dia of the drum. therefore making it hard to get the whelk on over the drum. and if that is the case then i'd be asking if he's sure he's got the right whelks for the car.
or maybe some one has put bigger brakes on it it.

nothing wrong with my spell checker matey, i was just using the official language of landyzone. its a bit like american, nearly english but not quite. the yanks have color we have colour.. landyzone has deisel everyone else has diesel. etc.. and so on..
i take it you don't have landyzonenese as part of your spill chequer
 
I have to sneak a pry bar behind my alloys to get them off! Mine are the 18 inch Vortex wheels but with the 5 spoke alloys I never had a problem...strange..but true..
