Has anyone tried the ALLI Sport kit for late TD5's (ie where you do not need to remove the pipework all the way back at the exhaust manifold but blank it off at the heat exchanger connection)? My luck is such that I'll break one or both of the studs on the manifold so am reluctant to use one of the kits that requires blanking at that end!

It is now a mot fail if it should have an egr and they see its been removed, so best if you can just blank it and leave it all there

Agreed, now an MOT fail plus at the recent fatal accident inquest in Plymouth the coroner went into detail on the "illegal modifications" to the exhaust even thought they were not causal to the accident. I suspect this line of argument will be used by insurers to reject claims. They may not have thought of it yet but its only a matter of time. Now its an MOT fail its more likely to be checked after an accident which means its more likely to get picked up by the insurers.

Thanks both - and interesting that it's an MOT fail and yet one of the articles in the Spring LRO International magazine included EGR removal as one of steps to restoring TD5 performance! Guess I'll leave it as is....it's not like there's a shortage of other jobs to be getting on with.

We are in a time of change and there will be a lot of politicians across the pollical spectrum looking to get kudos from being "green" or even "more green". Vehicle mods that defeat emissions (particulate and co2) and economy are a soft target. Very hard to argue against and a strong case that some of the mods should never have been allowed in the first place. Now, 2021: I would not be doing any mods that can't be fully reversed easily.
