Hey all,

As the title says, both front springs keep making pling and plang sounds when the steer is at full lock. Sometimes while driving the springs make such a sound too or a very audible plongk. The rear springs make sounds too, but less often as far as I can tell.

The original springs have been replaced with stiffer TJM springs which said they were for the freelander 1. Now I wonder, does anyone know if there is a way they can be mounted wrong / badly so they keep making such sounds? Or can it be that this is something the springs will do because they are stiffer?

Thanks for the replies :)

I think I am going to take one off and check all the mentioned items. If that is not going to sort it out I think it might be wise I check in with a garage and let them check what went wrong.

Especially after the right front one is starting to make a lot of racket even over the slightest bumps. This started last weekend during a greenlaning trip and that wheel hit a hole in the ground a little faster then I had hoped it would (40 km/h).

I am still scooping out sand out of every place it could go and some where I wonder how it got there...

It would match up with the back ones not being as bad as they don't swivel with the steering, the stiffer springs make much of a difference?

just try the top nut where it pops through into the engine bay see if it is loose if not then they need inspecting as the bearing do seize and will cause heavy steering feeling
