Hi. I am new so a big hello to you all. I am a bit sad. I had the air on re-gassed today at the garage on my TD4 freelander. It was pressure tested and vacuum tested. All good. Re-gassed but it doesn’t work. The compressor kicks in as it should but no cold air. Gutted. Any ideas would be appreciated. Many thanks regards Adam.

Was it working after the re gas at all when checked by the garage?
A clogged pollen filter can stop a lot of airlfow.

Im surprised the compressors is still working if the aircon was last used 4 years ago. When I bought my fl1 I discovered the ac wasnt working so I went to a local garage that specialises in regassing and ac service work. They regassed it twice but it didnt work. Their conclusion was the compressor had siezed through lack of use and quoted me £700 to fix it. Needless to say, I spent the summer months with the windows open.

Pop the belt off the compressor and see if the main part of the compressor turns by hand. The clutch will spin but check the main shaft and compressor turns ok. Also, can watch it when engine running, switch on air con, hear click and whole pulley and end cap should spin. Mind your pinkies !!

I’ll have a go. Thanks.

Hi,

Certainly the A.C. rubbers are dry and cracked, you should have put A.C. oil and gaz 4 years ago.

Put A.C. on, touch the A.C. metal tubes in the engine bay, they should be cold. Also when you put A.C on, you should hear the compressor clutch.

Before changing the compressor, you should change the 2 rubbers on the ac condensor and then refill the system.

Regards.
