I'm going to be taking the air suspension out and putting springs in, just wondering (probably a stupid question) could the compressor for the bags be modified to become an air compressor for the tyres? Or would it not be strong enough?

Just seeing if it would save going out buying a new compressor for tyres, as I can't find any info on it at all I'm guessing you can't

So you're going to remove the SLS and replace it with springs just so you can pump up your tyres with the SLS compressor? o_O

So you'd leave the air suspension in? It hoight the first thing to do would be swap them for springs

See I've bought mine recently with the 2inch lift and bags on it, I tried to use the bags to lower it but to no avail. I just don't want them failing and me having to mess about sorting them

I removed the SLS from my D2 a few years ago, regretted it and ended up putting the air bags back on.
Mine never had a lift though, so I can't really comment on that.

What are you intentions for the car? Greenlaning.. pay'n'play?

Just green laning occasionally and daily driver until the Mrs starts driving. So gotta make it solid and a good runner before I really go mad with it. It came with a safari snorkel and 2inch lift, egr delete. ACE removed, can't remember the rest but the best feature absolutely no rust at all on the chassis

According to an article I read the other day in the Discovery Owners' Magazine "Discourse" if you have a 7 seater, it will have air springs and changing them is a construction and use thing which could cause probs with insurance in a dodgy situation, i.e.e post crash. Never knew that before. Glad I have a 5 seater with springs. By the way, you can get a simple cheap tyre inflator from Halfrauds which works of the accessory port and works really well if a little slowly and noisily, at least you could get them, I'll check for you. Nope, don't do the same ones any more, but Screwfix does, see here, https://www.screwfix.com/p/ring-rtc...VmKztCh2TiwrnEAQYBCABEgJfOvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds More modern version of mine which I have had for years. Good value I reckon!

Why, what would be your rational for doing this?

And yes, there is no reason why you couldn't use the compressor for other uses, it isn't anything special, just a 12v compressor.

You are wrong... again... it's a very special underwinded powerfull low duty cycle compressor which was made to deliver high pressure for short time as the SLS requires.... that's why the SLABS ECU has a protection for it as if there is a leak and the pump gets feed for more than 60 seconds the ECU cuts the power and goes to "compressor duty cycle exceeded" default which will not let the compressor to get feed untill the fault code is cleared..... using it to inflate a tyre from flat will destroy it, it can b used to top up the pressure eventually... if you dont believe me give it direct feed for more than a minute and see how hot it becomes.... nothing is so simple as it appears in a LR Series, D1 or RRC owner's eyes who has no ideea about electcronic systems functionality :):D .... just joking m8
