Whilst changing my crank pulley today I noticed why my air con has never worked, looks like the previous spanner monkey snapped a bolt off on the compressor, so one of the pipes attached was loose...

Now, I've removed the compressor and replaced with a pulley. Do I restore the compressor or just bin it and strip out the rest of the air con system?

Decisions decisions...

bin the AC and the belt and get a NON AC belt. & a cover plate for the pulley hole.

it's just my opinion but I can't understand how somebody can think of ''downgrading'' a well equipped car by getting rid of enhancements rather than fix them after he gave more money for that car being better equipped... in these cases my attitude is simple: get rid of the aircon and of everything which will fail in the future, cut out the footwell and drive it like the flintstones

Repair it.

I would not contemplate a car without it.

My disco is the first vehicle I have owned to have it. The more modern cars that I now own and drive all have A/C as standard. I wouldn't be with out it.

Its got to be replacement. A/C is worth it even if we only need it a short period in this country each year. I disco 2 has pulled my caravan to Italy and the South of France on several occasions and I would not be without it over there.

I had no hesitation sealing up the sunroofs with Sikaflex when they leaked but i wouldn't dream of removing the A/C from my car or buying one without and Disco 2's do have great A/C when working properly!
