The warning sign was displaying in the control panel of my Air Con. It is a 2000 X reg 2.5 diesel with a BMW engine. Took car in to have it tested and was told that there was a leak in the condenser. No problem I'm told a replacement on order.

Too good to be true, darn tootin it was. Turns out that car was made just on a spec change and there are three possibilities for the condenser. One at £74, one at £125 and mine!! After days on tinternet received replies such as "never seen this part before", "it's either South African or Italian you won't find it in Uk" and one Main Stealer who quoted £960!!! Oh and they all said it couldn't be repaired.

Well I found someone who has repaired it. Just got it back cleaned and painted with the leak welded. Price £40!! If any of you have a similar problem suggest you try Cheltenham Radiators on 01242 235190.

Did it hold??????

or for just £70 and around 1 hour of tinkering time, you could have replaced the part with a shiney new one like I did! Thus giving you years of trouble free A/C and not spending your time wondering if the sticking plaster will hold
