Hello
I have a Dunlop air compressor for the Eas system.
As recommended I have tested the air pressure .I have removed the small blue pipe underneath and run the compressor .

I was able to easily put my thumb over the outlet not much resistance, so I assume it’s weak

My question is should I just buy a new one or can I repair it so it’s running at good pressure again

XR8 sell a good refurb kit for about £25. Lot cheaper than new pump. Videos on utube showing how to do the work. Have done it several times.
 
Unless you are an off road enthusiast, the L322 pump is IMO a pointless upgrade, the standard pump does the job just fine.
It also does not fit in the P38 EAS box, so you would need to create mountings, etc. I tried one on the bench with a 5 litre tank, and they are certainly quieter & better output, but too much faff to install in the car, and I agree the standard pump is perfectly adequate !!
 
It depends on skill level and needs of course. It wasn't really hard to install tbh but horses for courses 🤪
 
Looks like this one, and has a bracket with three worn-out rubbers !! I refurbed the pump with kit from X8R, so now it fills a 5L tank on bench in about 45-60 seconds. It does need a 40A relay though.

The original I had fitted was a second unit from an l322 supercharge model. It was experimental at first then I replaced it when it gave up being ten year old or more. 🤔
 
@Maxfred If you do decide to go this route, several key points:

1) You should retain the P38 dryer, even though the Merc compressor has one fitted. The P38 exhausts air through the block & dryer, whereas the Merc exhaust goes back through the compressor. Different air paths.
2) You will need a 40A relay & much thicker wiring for the compressor.
3) There's also a solenoid valve on the compressor, that needs to be activated when it's running to allow air through !!
4) You will need 4mm to 6mm airline adapter for the compressor output to the valve block.
5) The rubber & spring mounts are much more expensive than a P38 pump rebuild kit !!

Finally . . . .as Datatek says, it's pointless for normal use.
 
Yep, keep the air dryer on the original system.
The solenoid is left disconnected as it does nothing for this application, the air dryer on the pump can also be emptied.
There is an earth wire to fit to any screw on the pump and the air line the best way you can as suggested and then just the power supply.👍
