So the dead 2.5TD is almost out, soon to be followed by the dead LT77 (been a nice few weeks - not).
Disco 200TDi is sat there waiting to go in, including the conversion kit, pipes-wise. Issue is that massive Disco air filter though - can bodge it somewhere and run pipes from the snorkel all over the shop but not keen. New Defender 200TDi filter kit's about £250 but it'll slightly restrict the flow compared to the Disco one and that's silly - if I'm putting a better engine in i may as well have the benefit. Suddenly occurred to me that the answer is to fit a Kenlowe and then mount the Disco filter on its side where the Defender one sits now. New Kenlowe kit's actually cheaper than the air filter as well, but thought I'd mention what I need here on the off chance. That's below but any advice gratefully received too, this being the first of these I've done.
So, am after a Kenlowe for a 200TDi "Disco", also an 200TDi exhaust (when I got her the original system was rusted to pieces so stuck a cheap new one on - like the air filter it'll work but not perfectly and again no pony in fitting a TDi and then strangling it). If I can find a puma-style bonnet that will help us as we can use the extra room but it's not essential and they look horribly expensive to me (although have a load of spare paint as it happens).
Finally I'd like a gear stick, of all things.
Advice or bits gratefully received...

The scrapy and eBay are your friends on that mate.

Where abouts are you as I could help if you need it

I've got a big electric fan off a Merc E Class which fits the radiator perfectly, not actually fitted yet but I've checked and it will fit.

No point in spending £200 on a Kenlowe when you can get something better from the scrappies for a fiver! :D

True enough. Looks like I'm sorted thanks, as one of the guys on the bike forum turns out to run a LR breakers and expedition building place. Thinks he's got everything I need in the shed except the puma bonnet but does have a fibre glass "puma" which'll work.

I fitted a 200tdi air filter like this...

Got the hose from hyphose, I think they do mail order...

The builder's strip didn't last long before it snapped from all the vibration, so my mate knocked up a stainless bracket for the filter, I'll get some photos on here one day.

Hi, I've just completed the conversion and I modified the existing TD filter housing with parts from the disco housing, and mounted it back in almost the same location, but not using the existing bracketry. If you want more info let me know. Sorting this out so it looks half decent took a while, but it was worth it. For the power steering pressure hose I bought a new one (part no NTC9072) and it fits perfectly.

Cheers, Stoford
