1995 Disco Mk 1 V8i Automatic LPG

A previous owner had fitted a radio/CD/ DVD player and presumably because the original aerial had been snapped off at the base opted for an internal windscreen one.

The radio reception was rubbish so I decided to replace it a normal radio/cd player and revert to a normal wing mounted aerial. Because the original aerial lead is still in place I thought that replacing it would simply be a matter of finding the original aerial jack within the fascia tying on a draw cord – pull it out and tie the new lead on and pulling it back.

How wrong I was – I have now dismantled half of the fascia and still can’t find the bloody thing. Does anyone know where the aerial lead comes through the bulkhead or suggest an alternative routeing for the new lead?

Part of my problem is that in the fuse box area where I would have expected the entry point there has been so much gubbins, alarm controls etc added I just can’t see. I don’t want to take off any more without having a better idea of where to look

Thanks

I replaced my ariel and found a male to female connector under the steering column slighty to the left of center behind the plastic panel

Just fit you new aerial to the wing top then run the coax through the inner wing into the engine bay then through the bulkhead (drilling holes if or as required along with grommets) so the coax now appears behind the fuse box.

Depending on your headunits aerial connection some are a direct input others have a short female connecting lead which you may find in the mess of wires behind to the left hand side of the fuse box area, if not, then it must go all the way to the head unit which will require a long plastic cable tie to be used as a draw wire and slid alongside the thick wiring harness that goes into the lower part of the head unit housing.
Tape the coax on to the cable tie and pull into the housing.

Job Done:D
