I have Disco 2002 td5 2.5 diesel when coming home the engine reved right up and plumes of smoke came out of the exhaust the engine would not turn off and I could remover the key, no warning lights came on the dash and no funny sounds was only doing 35mph. no bang when the engine came back down to earth

Has the turbo gone?
Has the engine gone?

And how much will it cost
For new turbo
For engine re-build

Any help would be appreciated

Yes the turbo has gone, see if theres any oil left in the engine. If there is take the turbo off completely join the oil pipes and see if the engine runs and if so does it sound ok?

Hi no oil in engine did start it day after engine reved up again and lots of smoke was able to turn engine off.

did it make any knocking noises? if it started take off the turbo put some oil in and try again

Hi no knocking noises but did not sound healthy dont know if thats down to the turbo, for me it's lifting bonnet and checking fluids no good with engines.

Thanks for your advise though it all helps me build a picture up and would love to get it back on the road.
