I've been looking at all the different transmission oils and thinking of settling for castrol transmax dex111 multivehicle never used before just wondered if it was suitable not a bad price from opie oils. any advice or information appreciated.

Bloody stupid money. Even after it's been reduced in price. Anybody that pays £52.00 for four litres of ATF wants their bloody head examining. Just use any ATF that meets the DEX II or III specs even the cheap stuff does that.

Yeah but that is synthetic **** and overpriced because they think anybody who owns one has money to burn. We are talking P38 here i think. Paying that much is just plain stupid.:):D

May explain why so many L322 gearbox problems are prone to failure as some owners would be tempted to overlook this service

The GM valve block being made from cheese also adds to the problems. :D:D:D

they was originally filled for life hence expensive oil,but expensive oil doesnt make up for regular changes

Well thanks for the input so far I'll keep looking for a more reasonably priced one having taken on board the advice from wammers. Just didn't want to put crap in that would possibly do damage, I tend to go along with if it's not broke don't fix it attitude and at the moment the gearbox is fine! with crossed fingers and held breath,:) but don't know when the gearbox was last serviced and figure it's worth doing then i know it's done. As a matter of personal opinion wouldn't touch an L322 or for that matter any of the later ones. But everyone to there own. wouldn't do for us all to be the same.:D

On the ZF4HP22 the oil and filter should be changed every 24K miles. Dex IId or III it say's in my book.

Many thanks for that datatek as i say at least if i do it now i'll know it's been done I've only had it short while and only done about 4000 miles, has stamped service book guess could try phoning round to find out but then i'll only have their word so i think safest bet, do myself to be sure after the problem i had with the front diff i'm working my way through, some can do myself some can't, i think i can manage the engine service myself, as not to much to do underneath, did manage to have a good grease up underneath and had a good look at the gearbox and reckon i can give it a go, just might need a hand to hold the sump back up to fit, but got a mate local so hopefully be able to sort that bit. Just waiting for a bit warmer weather.:D

Sump is as light as a feather, if I can re fit it anyone can:)

It certainly is ,lift car up to full Height with air suspension leave tailgate open and a lift with four axel stands if you have got some ,gives you that extra room to move about .

You will also need torq set of sockets for the three filter bolts , I'm getting new bolts next time as they are getting a little worn and difficult to undo ;);)

appreciate all your comments thanks a lot it's not the weight of the sump just awkward  because neck and shoulder problems, thats why bit of a project for me but determined to give it a go. kill or cure as they say.:D told the wife if i get stuck under there to just pass me a blanket and a flask and leave me to it:D let you know how i get on. but not till bit warmer. hopefully next week or two.
