My mate is wanting to sell his Series 3 to me, its sat on his drive and has done for over 20yrs. Its a project and will need a bit of work to get going again. I've never done a project before so it would be my first, he wants to sell it to me for £1k and all the parts I need come with the vehicle to get it finished. Would I be stupid to miss this opportunity?

possibly what condition are the chassis and bulkhead in?

if they are solid and the engine and gearbox aren't siezed then it sounds like a good deal

If you can weld that is a plus, if you can't and it needs a new chassis and bulkhead that is a lot of cash to lay out on top of the grand

and at least double your estimate of how long the "bit of work" will take :D

Chassis is near perfect and bulk head is brand new. Engine hasn't been started in over 20 years but I'm told it will go pretty easy with a bit of fettling. He thinks it may take another £400-£500 to get roadworthy.

Sounds like a good deal, Ifs its as descibed then most of the work will probably rebuilding the brakes and new wiring and paint and trim. Its all labour intensive but doesn't cost a lot and can be done at home so its a viable project.

Thanks for the replies! Yeh I went looking at it properly and the chassis was way past my welding capabilities. The stuff he put on it I.e the bulkhead and new panels was 8yts ago so they're still good just surface rust now. Think I'll save for a running projet
