sunday i went to kirton off roading, and got stuck in water. After about 10 mins in the water it started kicking white smoke out. turned it off and got it out where i turned the key again and it fired first time with no truble. once the landy got warm it stopped smoking. let it go cold and it smokes again.but as soon as it warm it doesnt do. drove it home woth no problems but started it up again today and its smoking again.
any one any ideas.

first lot of white smoke was probably just a bit of steam from where water got int the exhaust system.
Smoking on start up when the car is cold is normal for most landys and i wouldn't worry too much about it.

what colour was/is the smoke?

mine does the same. shouldn't think it is much to worry about

wait and see what other responses you get incase there are any other different opinions

i might be worrying about nothing the box's in the exhaust will be fill so they have to be emptyed but like you say wait and see what people put,
thanks mate for the advice.

no white smoke is fine when cold as long as it goes after a short time and doesnt bellow out the whole time!
mine does the same so no worries fella

it white smokes until the temp gets up, and its not alittle bit its quite bad until warm

Sounds like you may have blown the head gasket by sucking in some water.

Basically the compression suffers, so the engine has to be warm for the diesel to ignite properly, so it smokes a LOT ofd white smoke, unburnt diesel, until warm.

Get it compression tested - a local garage will probably do it for you, or let you borrow their tester.
