Can anyone activate the fogs on my p38's becm within say an hours drive of leeds?
I've got them fitted but obviously they won't work yet
also the front fog switch looks like the guy took it out with a crowbar so if anyone's got a spare one it exchange for a few beer vouchers id very much appreciate it

Arnt they automaticly wired in with the rear fog switch ?
not tested yet but loads of people said they need to be turned on in the becm
the switch ive got is mashed is dont see the point of taking the center dash out to fit it if im gona be swaping it soon

I always thought the wires are already part of the loom even on the autos just need to fit the lights and your off wired in with the rear don't think there is a seprate button for the fronts like some cars have , only both come as once as far as I'm aware .

No separate buttons the front button goes in the blank to the right of the rear fog button the wiring is there but seems theres no power

You will have to switch fog function on in BECM before any power to switch. The switch then grounds a circuit and fogs are switched on by BECM. Side lamps or headlamps must be on for fogs to light. If ignition is turned off or lights are turned off fogs will go out. They will need to be switched on again if needed, they will not automatically come back on with ignition or lights. They are controlled by BECM.

Yea thats what I thought
so back to my original question can anyone activate them for me?
Also as they've been aftermarket fitted do I need to put a relay/fuse in the fuse box or owt?

If they are Land rover fogs plugged into the loom and the switch is plugged into the loom. All you need to do is get them activated in the BECM. As i said the BECM switches them on and off the relays are in that. The switch on the dash just tells the BECM you want them on or off. The BECM does everything else. I can do it, but i am along way from Leeds, there must be someone closer.

Sorry mate, joking aside, I'm a bit far away to help.
If the lights have got standard bulbs, 55watt, and you've used the car's wiring, then you won't need anything else.

Ahh I went to blackpool about 3 weeks ago if id thought I could have called in and lived with the bulb blown warning untill I got round to fitting them lol
got a right deal with them though! switch, pair of fogs with colour coded bumper (in the right colour) plus a rear bumper (ok for now but will eventually need a respray) £55
im hiding them in the garage atm cos I sint told her yet and were supposed to be saving for our holiday to Egypt in 3 weeks.
but £55 cant let that get away lol

Front fogs are seperate from rear fogs and have to be enabled in the BECM. the wiring is always there though.
Sorry, just noticed that Wammers has covered it:eek:

Hi

just thought I'd add my 2pence

I have fitted fogs to mine after moving the gearbox rad. All I had to do was replace the plug as the pins had corroded. some shiny new connectors and the dash switch and bingo everything worked!
:D

Yea im prepared for that but need to get power to the plug before check for bad contacts

Try fitting everything and seeing what happens before you start thinking about travelling miles?! I didn't have to wake them up in the BECM mine just worked?

even if yours don't, you can have them fitted not working as they are not part of an MOT and they will be safer fitted to the car then kicking around your garage!

fitting them before worrying about the BECM being fiddled with is the important part? Regards the switch they are going for £7 to £10 on ebay??? Just buy another??

They are if the switch is fitted and does not light when pressed.
