Ok so my 2001 D2 ES auto has ACE fitted but it has been disconnected but not removed.. It has anti roll bars front and rear and it actually corners quite well (not as good as my last D2 that had working ACE) so I think I can safely presume who ever disconnected the ace added standard anti roll bars when they did.. I'm saying this because i have heard some horror stories of owners disconnecting ACE and leaving it as it is, very dangerous of course..

So as the system is in place I am wondering if I should reinstate it.. The problem of course is that I have no idea what went wrong with the system in the first place to cause the system to be disconnected.. The valve block is definitely an issue as it is leaking.. but used replacements are easy to find on ebay. But if the pump has gone thats different, new are £400+ and used with no guarantee how much life it has left £150-£200

Then there's the actuators, not so expensive to replace but it starts to add up...

So should I sack it and remove the system all together.... some of the parts i remove will have a value and i could sell to put in my D2 maintenance fund...

Also I have seen these ACE bypass kits that replace the pump with a simple pulley, looks good and not expensive.. but am i missing something here, If i remove the pump then surely i will have an engine as if it never had ACE and all i will need is a serpentine belt the correct length for a TD5 with no ACE..

if you remove ace you should fit the idler pulley and correct belt,all the bits for ace should be cheap from breakers as most remove it , the pipes are the expensive part which are usually rotten
 
Reinstate it, use hydraulic hoses except for the pump hoses.

Mine had 4 split pipes on the flanges in the block at the front, now nice hydraulic hose and works perfectly.

I would NOT want to do my commute without ACE (Worcester to Redditch)
 
Now that' an interesting idea.. did you use steel hydraulic pipe or flex hose?

And you would NOT want to do Hanbury to Redditch, or Astwood Bank to Feckenham (both routes) without it

Both routes via Feckenham?

One is really twisty B road and the other is an axle twisting BOAT
