The speaker in the front driver's door isn't working. First thing I guess is to the check the wiring. Do I have to remove all of the door trim to access the speaker or can I just remove the 4 screws that hold the pocket on? I did try loosening all 4 yesterday but it didn't obviously want to come off and I didn't want to force it just in case.

IIRC, the storage compartment is bolted to the door trim with screws that are only accessible from the inside. Those 4 screws you removed are for the door trim.

I had to get mine off recently to sort out the window mechanism and motor.
Trim is held on by A/ those fecking pain in the ass trim clips, B/ the screw holding the door opener on C/ the two screws holding the door pull handle D/ the top of the trim going down and over the inside top of the door under the window, so you have to lift it up and then out and yes E/ the 4 screws going in through the pocket.
While you are in there, do yourself a favour and take the motor out, drain it of Water (yes, WATER) and relube it, also lube the X part of the winder mechanism as it too can get sticky and lead to winder failure!
You will of course have to deal with the plastic rain shield thing. good wide plastic tape or gaffer tape should do it.

Thanks for those tips @Stanleysteamer .
No problem, I did put a load of pics in a thread somewhere but they were more to do with dealing with the window winder mechanism and the motor. So they prolly wouldn't really be a lot of use.
I strongly suggest you get a set of spare trim clips as I had exactly the right number of spares and used them all.
(Was replacing the door trim from one door onto another, which is why I had the spares. While fixing the motor thingy.)
