Turns out my condenser (at only 3yrs old) had a hole in the top corner. Can only think the bit of foam on the underside of the slam panel has been soaked with 20yrs of salt off the roads, oil, petrol, unicorn shite, etc. The acidic mix has eaten through the 0.02mm of aluminium and lost all my expensive gas

Aaaaaaaanyway, got a new one, got it swapped over and refilled at local Tyre City (formerly Budget) for £60.

Well! COLD o_O A 25 mile trip past week with the lad in the back seat, half way there and he said "Daddy, I'm freezing!"

Job done :p

C'ept the leak is back!

Left side, drip, drip, drip, onto the carpet. The AC drains are perfectly sealed. Cold, but dry. However, the left motor duct is dripping at the bottom.

So the question is WHY??? o_O

Why would condensate be dripping from the duct?

I can find NO trace of it from anywhere else with the glove box removed. It is exactly and only from the bottom of the duct where it meets the air distribution box.

Bloody Range Rovers :(

Any cloozezes???

Split pipe? The Aircon drains just clip on. Sealed top and bottom?

Or did you disturb something when the dash was out?

RR, no it's clear and cold.

Grrrrr, it was there long before I removed the dash. But I assumed the drains were the problem.

Nope. Defo coming out of the duct from the motor....

But....how? o_O

Normal ingress is pollen filters or the screws for the windscreen surround. Cannot remember where the sunroof drains go?

I’d take it back to whomever did the AC and tell them it’s leaking. - motor should be warm so AC could be?
If it’s not - they’ll find out what it is to prove it’s not them ;)

Nope. Not even a little bit. New windscreen with all new everything (seriously, I was astounded that they supplied new clips and plasticky bits and what not.

I personally undid the pollen filter housing and replaced it (what a fud of a job that was o_O). All screws checked, water poured in to see if it leaked and pollen filters recent.

This is ONLY leaking when the AC is on fully cold and is something to do with condensation getting into the fan to be blown through the duct (although why isn't it coming out of the vents??) or somehow coming out of the air distribution box right at the ducting from the fan....

K'in Range Rovers....

Heater matrix might be leaking. There an Audi core replacement that works well and does away with those leaking o-rings.

I'll never forget i once managed to get fog coming out of the dash vents because of run it so cold for so long that ice had started to form. But that was an American car with proper AC

If it's the left side, it will not be O rings. Almost certainly it will be condensate, your drains may be perfectly sealed, but I would guess one or both are blocked.

On the FB P38 forum, a chap has come up with the most intelligent answer out of many less so.... There will be a kink in the drain pipe. I'm going with that.

Apparently, the condensate backs up then spills over and into the motor housing or ducting which is why it's dripping onto the carpet from the duct

Next job, remove, cut, shorten, replace. o_O

More likely the end of the drain pipe is blocked, a common problem, the opening is in the form of slit, a quick squeeze from underneath usually results in a sleeve full of water, problem solved.. The drain pipe is very short, hard to see how it would kink.

When the dash was out the 1st thing I checked was the "out" end and it was clean & clear.

However, I recall placing the accordion pipe back in and it was not only a tight fit, but the drain on the tunnel was further back than the drain end on the air distribution box. But I figured that it being flexible and all that things would be ok....

I felt it with my fingers the other day and it was cold so obviously cold water in there.

Glove box is off anyway as I am missing 4 little screws that hold the plastic part that the lid locks onto...4 little phillips headed with what looks to be metric fine threads. The parts they screw into are brass. No idea what size of thread or anything and not a clue where they disappeared to

I have ten days to get it back together

Took the car apart today and discovered (took photo's, but her indoors is using my phone to watch Coronation Street...) the left side drain is kinked beyond belief o_O

Also, popped round to a mate who supplied 4 allan key headed bolts for the glove box.

That and found the reason for the fact it didn't open....Bloody thing was fitted wrong

The metal bar that operates the latch needs to be held back while fitting the release wire. Took me a few goes, but eventually got it working and then I applied the smallest zip tie and super glued it in place so it wont pop out again.

Satisfied

On the shite side of things, I bought some beer....Only, when I was picking up the 4 pack, turned out the corner of the pack was torn so 2 bottles took off and smashed on the floor. That and a sliver of glass found it's way into my foot and my big toe was in agony. Wife got it out with a tweezers...

The bottle of OVD Rum I bought then rolled out of the car when I opened the back door when I got home. It smashed on the ground and leaked away.

On the plus side, all the glass was contained in the plastic bag so at least I was able to bin it :(

No fucking luck o_O

At least I know whats up with the car I guess

Depends how you look at it. Your liver was lucky and without that you're f*cked. Plus you'll be up early to get those fixes done.
