Hi, Has anyone had any experience with abs wheel sensors? I have the abs/traction warning lights up on my 1999 4.6 HSE, my local dealer hooked up the car and said that the n/s rear sensor has failed. If I replace with a used one (the dealer wants £230 for new) will the warning lights just go away or do I have to go back and have them cancelled out. The offending sensor can easily be pulled out where as the others are very firmly seated, does this indicate a deeper problem, maybe I should just let the dealer take over and pay the bill !! Cheers, Paul

hi,

i had a intermittent abs fault. turned out to be a broken wire to the sensor. Abs fault can be lots of things, could even be the air gap is just to large. and reseating the sensor in the hub can clear the fault. when they plugged it in. what readings were they getting?. did they drive the vehicle up the road to see if it was giving a wheel movement reading? or air gap to large fault. if it is the sensor. its a easy job to replace and you wont need to plug it in to stop you from getting the message. but you will need to plug it in to clear its memory. if you wanted to that is.

Many Thanks, I am going to replace the sensor and see what happens, nice to know that I don't need another expensive plug in!
