Hi all,
Had ABS light come on. Did the blink test and found front right cable fault. Removed sensor and found broken cable. Too near to sensor so changed wheel sensor for a new one.
I now get 2-12. Airgap!
The sensor stops as far as it goes down the hole (tapped it down with wood mallet).
it can not go any more as have measured the depth. Might even been to close so I pulled it out and tried every 1mm and reset.
Then brought another sensor and different make. same!

Does the sensor need to be just clear of the castellated ring

Does anyone else have any ideas. Maybe ECU?

2-12 alarm is usually caused by a low voltage because the removable sensor is to far away from the exciter ring in the hub.

Push it in carefully, take care not to damage wiring as partially damaged wiring cause by hitting it can give a lower voltage and the fault code.

It can also be caused by loose/worn wheel bearings.

Did you clear all the alarm codes after the repair. Does the ABS bulb flash on and off when the ignition is switched on and then does it stay on and go off after being driven and then come on and register the 12-12 fault?

Is the connector clean and tight at the junction on the inner wing?

Thanks for your reply.
Its a new sensor so connector is good and clean. The sensor is as far as it can go. I did try different depths.
I cleared down all the faults and and is left with 2-12 (airgap)
The light did flash off then on a few times?
Every so often the light goes out but soon comes back after braking (ABS kicks in).
Wheel bearing is an option but no play in hub??
