Hi, I am new to this forum but am driving a v8 disco1 for about 4 years. The abs has never worked and the bulb for the abs has been removed. I am in the process of fixing everything that has not worked and now am stuck with the abs system. I did the blink code process and got some codes that is not featured in the list of possible codes, 1long blink followed by 1 blink, 2 blinks and 3 blinks, all with a pause of 2.5 sec in between and then it starts again. Is there anyone with any ideas what they mean? Thanks in advance!

That is the exact pdf I printed and used, but the sequence of blinks is not corresponding to the list of possible codes! This is the exact sequence of blinks: 1 long blink, pause, 1 short blink, pause, 2 short blinks, pause, 3 short blinks, pause, and starts again. I followed the instructions to the letter and re-did it several times with the same result. I have searched the net but has had no luck.

a 2-3 blink code is "Recirculation pump does not operate (pump does not switch on)"

Check the pumps wiring, fuse relay and connections.

hope that helps

Thank you, I will check rest of system today according to the instructions. The warning light relay is under the glove compartment and is a green relay, but where is the abs pump relay?

Hi, I have found the abs pump relay! It is the second relay from the front and to the right of the relay tray under glove box and is black. It also is a high amp relay with two large pins and two smaller ones. It was rusted bad and not working, replaced and now I get the proper codes from the abs light without removing the abs warning light relay!
Codes show only the FLH wheel sensor air gap fault and FRH sensor open circuit, will fix that tomorrow. So after at least 4 years of not working, there is still some life in the abs pump! Thanks to all that commented!

Hi, the abs did not stay fixed for long! Did the code reading again and got 2-1, no code like that in the list of possible codes. The code also does not clear and the abs light stays on all the time. Hope freediscoranger can help with this code?

Ouch. thats not a nice code.

2-1 Internal ECU fault ----Replace ECU

i got mine from a land rover breakers for 60 quid with a 3 month warrenty

Thanks for the bad news! Was working fine until this afternoon. You just cant win, can you? Thanks for the quick reply, I will visit the scrapyard tomorrow!

It may be worth opening up the control module and inspecting for dry solder joints or areas where corrosion on the PCB is causing problems.

My light came on today. Not sure if connected but did 2 things today:
1- got new hd steering rods fitted at garage.
2- I was try to push the black cover under the glove box; I've since found out that that's where the relay for the abs light is.

Anyone think this could be connected? Found 2 sodding holes in the footwell as well; had a great day..not:eek:

I opened the abs ecu, but cannot find anything wrong. I have plenty of experience fixing dry or poor connections, but the ecu looks brand new on the inside. Went to the scrapyard and plugged in a different ecu and everything works. Thanks again!

So which of the green relays is the ABS warning light one that you need to pull out for the blink test?
