I bought a land rover car stereo for our series, it's an old one or so I thought, it's tape and radio. I assumed it would be an aerial socket and a few wires out the back for power and speakers,

but NO it's got 2 male sockets on the back with a mass of pins.

Anyone any ideas. It was supposed to be a birthday present for the wife, try and drown out the engine noise a bit :) ; )

It sounds like it might have DIN standard sockets. One of the two sockets will have constant and switched 12v inputs plus ground (the extra pins aren't used for anything specific) and the other will have connections for two pairs of speakers. Not too difficult to wire up in any case, but you do need the mating plugs. Simplest option if you don't have access to the original vehicle is to get an adapter (any really as long as it has the right plugs for the radio end) and cut it about.
