I was flying along the German Autobahn on Sunday (a section with no speed limit) when the plastic outer cover of the passenger side A-pillar detached itself and vanished. At first I thought a bird had hit the car but but after stopping in a lay-by I noticed the missing part. It had bounced down the side of the car but miraculously hadn't scratched the paintwork. Underneath I could see that it had been stuck on with what looks like windscreen sealant instead of the plastic plugs that plug into the metalwork, as visible in these photos. I knew the windscreen had been replaced by the previous owner and my local stealer says it's symptomatic of work done by a non-LR dealer who didn't have the correct fittings at hand. They just stick the cover back with the same sealant used to seal the windscreen. The stealer has ordered a new part for 50EUR so it's not the end of the world. But I'd say if you get a new screen fitted, make sure they refit the A-pillar covers properly
